Southern Province Cement Co , based in Saudi Arabia, has announced its financial results for the period ended 31 December 2023. The company recorded a drop in revenues of 12.4 per cent, from SAR1.2bn (US$320m) to SAR1.07bn over the year. Consequently, net profits plummeted 35.2 per cent from SAR301m to SAR195m. Southern Province places contract for two new lines at Jazan

Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co has placed an order with Sinoma International Engineering Co for two new 5000tpd production lines at its Jazan cement plant. Line 3 will go under construction first and is due for completion within 18 months. Infrastructure for a second 5000tpd line (Line 4) is also being put in place, with that line expected to complete within 24 months. Saudi-based Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC) has reportedly completed its study into the construction of a new 10,000tpd production line at its Jazan plant, and work was now underway to draft and review the EPC contract. Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement Co reported a 48.4 per cent surge in net profit to SAR135m (US$36m) in the 2Q20, against SAR91m in the second quarter of 2019. Sales also advanced 22.8 per cent YoY to SAR339m from SAR276m.

Saudi-based Southern Province Cement Co reported a 62.9 per cent drop in profits for the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same period of the previous year, while QoQ profits declined 30.9 per cent. A senior official in Saudi Arabia has said that the kingdom's ban on cement exports has been lifted. According to reports from Reuters, the ban - imposed in 2008 and renewed in 2012 - has been overturned because of a slowdown in the construction sector, which has led to an oversupply of cement. Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement Company has signed a US$26m contract with a Finnish power firm that will allow it to expand its power plant in Jazan, located in the south of the country. Southern Province's chairman, HH prince Abdullah bin Mosa'ad bin Abdulrahman Al- Saud, signed the contract with Wartsilla Power Contracting Co of Finland yesterday. The deal will see four diesel-powered units added to its plant in Jazan, which will increase its capacity by 32MW.
